“Classical whirl at Filharmonie Hradec Králové with the flawless Trio Incendio” – review

"The advantage of all members of Trio Incendio is, of course, the spontaneity and immediacy that comes with age, which, when combined with flawless performance, becomes a high added value." says the reviewer Roman Marčák about our Triple Concerto with Filharmonie Hradec Králové.

“Trio Incendio has been receiving positive reviews and coverage since 2016, when members of the then Academy of Chamber Music Karolína Františová (piano), Filip Zaykov (violin), and Vilém Petras (cello) first introduced themselves as a newly formed ensemble. Since then, they have successfully competed in a number of prestigious competitions, won many awards, and performed at numerous festivals. This year, they will also perform at the Prague Spring festival.

They performed Beethoven's Concerto for Piano, Violin, Cello and Orchestra in C major, Op. 56 with the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra, confirming that they possess extraordinary interpretative abilities not only in the field of purely chamber music, but also when collaborating with larger musical ensembles. The famous Triple Concerto, premiered in 1804, is often described as a mix of elements of chamber music and solo concerto, but sometimes it becomes an over-the-top exhibition of the soloists, or, conversely, leads to a kind of battle with the orchestra, sometimes ending, paradoxically, with the solo instruments being drowned out.

Conductor Johannes Schlaefli dealt with the risks safely by calming the orchestra down from the very beginning, perhaps too much for some, and entrusting the main space to the trio without any compromise. Perhaps this is why the orchestral parts sounded much more subdued and less determined than usual. On the other hand, it is commendable that the young soloists did not abuse the privileges entrusted to them, quite the contrary. Their playing impressed above all with its heartfelt lightness, which also applied to the virtuoso passages. Pianist Karolína Františová and violinist Filip Zaykov shaped their parts into breathtaking lyrical heights, while the confident cellist Vilém Petras had no problem whatsoever with the acrobatics prescribed by the composer. The advantage of all three is, of course, the spontaneity and immediacy that comes with age, which, when combined with flawless execution, adds great value.”

We are very happy for such a lovely review and hope to have another opportunity to perform this wonderful piece soon again! You can read the whole review here.
